Antelope Valley Fair Recognized with 24 Marketing Awards
LANCASTER, CA. January 24, 2011. Last year’s Antelope Valley Fair & Alfalfa Festival 2010 provided “All AG-cess” to Fair exhibits and activities, resulting in several Marketing awards. Fair 2010 delivered a total of 24 awards, combined, from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) and the Western Fairs Association (WFA). Specifically, the Antelope Valley Fair won 6 ‘First Place’, 6 ‘Second Place’, 8 ‘Third Place’ and 4 ‘Honorable Mention’ awards between the 2010 IAFE Hall of Honor Communications Awards and the WFA 2010 Achievement Awards Program. All Fair artwork was designed by in-house Art Director, Denise Sullivan.
Fair officials expressed considerable pride in noting that nearly all awards were in the categories of marketing/advertising and community outreach. The two First Place awards from IAFE were for the Fair 2010 poster design and press kit. IAFE entries are evaluated and judged by a team of industry leaders from IAFE, with a membership of over 3,200 Fairs and over 1,000 entries from around the world.
Fair officials were especially pleased that a new Non-Fair Event Sponsored by the Fairgrounds won a First Place WFA award. The non-Fair event was a Barn Bash hosted by the AV Fair Livestock Committee volunteers. The fundraising event was a BBQ/auction and was a huge success with over $20,000 raised through donations, sponsors and auction items and put towards improvements to the Livestock barns on the fairgrounds. Out of the 650 entries from 48 Fairs throughout the West, the A.V. Fair won 19 awards. The WFA also acknowledged the A.V. Fair with 3 other First Place awards for the Fair 2010 billboard on the Antelope Valley freeway, the Family weekday and weekend 4-pack promotions and the overall Theme program.
General Manager, Dan Jacobs commented, “Our goal for each Fair is to meet the diverse educational and entertainment needs of our community. We encourage community participation through volunteerism and strive to consistently provide a great and affordable Fair that brings together the residents and families of the Antelope Valley and is fun for all ages.” Marketing Manager Wendy Bozigian added, “We are committed to our agricultural roots and feel our Fair offers “All AG-cess” to education in agriculture, livestock, competitive exhibits, local performers, non-profit organizations and more. We are honored at being recognized by our peers for our successful Fair 2010 Marketing campaign.”
